Should you have any additional questions not answered on that site or this one, please contact your GCRA Volunteer Coordinator.
Expensing your fees
Training related expenses will be refunded on successful completion of training for volunteers actively participating on a team, in the role for which they are taking training. For example, if you are coaching regional U12 we will reimburse the associated training expenses. If you wish to take a CI clinic and are NOT coaching, you will have to cover this expense but if you coach in following years at this level we will reimburse you.
- Before expensing any fees to GCRA, all Bench Staff must first apply for a grant through CAO (Coaches Association of Ontario) at http://www.coachesontario.ca/qfg/bursary-program/ - It's free money that helps us achieve our training obligations - let's use it.
- All coaches for all sports are entitled a grant up to $300 per person, per fiscal year (April 1st to March 31)
- The grant will cover 60% of a CSI clinic and 70% of a CI clinic and 70% of an on ice evaluation. They also cover 60% of other professional development type clinics (basically 60% for anything and 70% if it leads to certification)
- ***The coach must show that they have registered and paid for the clinic out of pocket (they actually have to attest to this on the form, as well as attest that they are not paid in advance by the association
- Note: Online clinics are not eligible (ie the online MED clinics).
-
All receipts for training must be submitted through the GCRA Director of Coaching (DirCoach@gcra-ringette.ca)
- GCRA will only reimburse for 1 trainer per team and 1 manager per team. Costs in excess of that will need to be covered by the individual or team.
EXAMPLES:
- Coach Initiation: will be refunded ($15)
- Manager Training: will be refunded ($25)
- CSI and CI Training: will be reimbursed as follows:
- CSI: submit receipt to GCRA Director of Coaching.
- CI: first submit for a coach bursary through CAO; second, once you have evidence of amount paid by CAO, submit CAO evidence with original receipt through GCRA Director of Coaching.
- CD: professional development training: Same process as CI
- Making Headway: is free
- First Aid: if you do not already have this designation, you may complete training at an authorized provider, and will be reimbursed (1 trainer per team). Criteria are explained in the Ringette Ontario Coaching Pathway for Trainers. Minimum 13 hour clinic for 1st time certification is mandatory.
- CI Certification - On Ice Evaluation: you will be charged initially; once we can verify successful completion we will reimburse you; submit request for refund to the GCRA Director of Coaching.
